The house we're sitting is on a steep hillside, right in the center of the island, so high that it gets a sweeping view of the entire central islands and the water on both sides - the Philippine Sea to the right and the Pacific to the left.
This morning we saw a heavy rain sweep up from the east. In just a few minutes, we were completely surrounded by solid white nothingness. We looked out the windows and said, "where did Guam go!?"
Then it pulled away, like a blanket being dragged off the surface of the land, and the morning sun picked out every detail of the mountains in the south, with a little glimmer of rainbow above.
Guam is just amazing sometimes.
That sounds like something out of Miyazaki. Very magical and scary and nice!
