Beds and quality of life.

There's an issue with the bed at this house-sitting house. We wake up in the morning, not really rested, with achey bodies, and Nick thinks it's because the mattress is old.

It makes me want to ask - when was the last time you replaced your mattress?  Maybe as people get older, they start to feel more aches and pains in their bodies, and they think it's their bodies getting old. What if it was really their mattress getting old?

And maybe you've seen commercials for tempurpedic beds, or sleep number beds, where customers claim that the mattress changed their lives. Well, maybe they just had an old mattress at home and never thought about replacing it with a new one, until some technology came along to make them think they needed a different one - not just a new one, but a new kind. But maybe, if they'd spent the money on a high-quality new pillowtop, they would be just as pleased...

I just wonder. I think it's really important to have a comfortable bed, since we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed, and it can reduce the quality of the the other 2/3 if your bed leaves you unrested or in pain...

  1. In an attempt to hang out with Ariel I went to see a movie called "Devil". One of the characters is a mattress salesman and he makes mattresses seem very important, but is very sleazy about it. I think he successfully makes people want to buy a mattress from someone else. ^_^
