strains, sprains, and automobiles

We went to the doctor today - actually the same PA we visited at home last night. We were both feeling a lot worse today...

so we went in, and it was probably a good thing. My left hand was in a lot of pain and pretty useless. The PA declared it sprained, and splinted it for me, and it's much easier to live with now. She diagnosed acute cervical strain in both of us - that's doctor-speak for whiplash, I believe - and prescribed a muscle relaxant. Of course, she also told us to ice and to take ibuprofen - not tylenol anymore. Apparently tylenol is important when an injury is new, and ibuprofen does better after a day or so.

She said that Nick's eye looks a lot better, so that is good good news - he had actually hit his eyeball on something! But he's not going to sustain any permanent injury.

As for the car... we are still working on that. But just looking at it, we can tell that it's not going to be able to be fixed on Guam. That part of the ordeal is so outrageous - cars get destroyed in accidents and it's too bad, but this was a special car. It's not the same as if we'd been driving a Camry or something... no car on Guam can replace that car.

So, all is remarkably well, considering what could have happened. I couldn't sleep much last night, partly because I was thinking about what a miracle it was that we weren't seriously hurt. I am on my knees with gratitude that Nick and I are both okay.
