Pretty good recipe

Oh, it's one of those nights - Friday night in the island paradise, all of the neighbors are having parties, and I'm studying for the bar. So I'm feeling all kinds of pathetic... Nicky's at a fundraiser, and then he'll be going to a softball game, and I'm on my own all evening.

So I made this recipe in honor of a night home alone:

http://www.food.com/recipe/beer-bread-73440

3 cups flour (sifted)
3 teaspoons baking powder (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1 teaspoon salt (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1/4 cup sugar
1 (12 ounce) can beer
1/4 cup melted butter

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix dry ingredients and beer.
Pour into a greased loaf pan.
Pour melted butter over mixture.
Bake 1 hour, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes.

I figured I deserve a drink, but I didn't want to drink alone. So, the drink went into the recipe instead, and it is alright! I'm not sure it's as incredible as all of the comments on that website make it sound - or maybe I got my expectations too high by reading them - but in an effort versus result analysis, I'd say it's definitely a keeper. Very easy, very simple, quite tasty.

Certainly I've put much more effort into things that didn't taste half as good... ;)

  1. WOAH! Another one I want to try! I'm so lazy though! I keep wanting to try these recipes and then not making time for them. I need to teach Matilda to help out around the house more.

  2. Sheesh yes! What is she, almost 5 months now? By that age, *we* were already milking the goats and sewing all the family's clothes.
Kids these days are so spoiled...
