Just checking in. An internet person is supposed to come to our apartment tomorrow morning (that is, Wednesday night in the US), and perhaps that means we'll be online at home by tomorrow afternoon!
In the meantime: We moved in and things are OK, but not perfect. Our air conditioner gave up last night, and that made for a very difficult night. Our landlady is off-island. She gave us a phone number for a maintenance guy - she had sent him by on Sunday and he fixed a few things already (that was before the aircon quit) - but he doesn't really speak English, so I have no idea how I'm going to call him and tell him who I am, where I live, and what is wrong. Oh, dear.
The apartment was "professionally cleaned" before we moved in, but - the realtor warned me about this - a "professional clean" on Guam does not actually mean what we want it to mean. There is a lot of work left for me to do - dust, grime, rust, lime, gecko poo... bleh.
Ahhh, and I signed up for the Guam bar. The thinking went like this: If I get a job with a public agency here, I can afford to pay myself back for the bar exam. If I don't get a job with a public agency here, then I can't afford not to have taken the bar exam! Either way, it makes sense.
No fun, though. This morning I woke up remembering just how unpleasant and stressful it is to study for and take the bar. And are there even bar study materials available for the Guam bar??
I'll find out...
Have fun cleaning up after the Geico salesgecko and what not. Sunny has actually taught me the joys of cleaning...
ReplyDeleteThat last sentence was under duress.
Also, have fun with the bar...
