Check out this Vette we saw near Yigo! Brooke does not understand that we totally need this and are suffering without it. It has T-tops and looks like it just needs a little interior work and TLC to be a daily driver.

I actually had a chance to purchase a mint condition 1976 'Vette in orange.
ReplyDeleteThe hammer dropped at the estate sale for $7,000.00.
The decedant's nephew told me that he "could make me a deal if I really wanted the 'Vette."
I thought long and hard. I called my credit card and asked about my line of credit and what not. Bottom line is that I got cold feet and didn't bid above $4,000.00
Truth is I would be a happier man if I bought that orange 'Vette back in 2001. The 'Vette was the same age as me.
I would have looked like a thousand bucks crusin' in Indiana in a mint condition 'Vette. The final reason why I didn't bid was that it was a Chevrolet Chevette and not a Chevrolet Corvette. My buddy actually called it a "Shit-vette", so I did not bid higher than $4k.
Just kidding, it was a lovely mint condition 'Vette from a lottery winning widower who was willing to make me a deal. The Corvette sold for $7k and I kick myself for not buying it.
It got away! Let that be a lesson to all of us, that when life offers you a great deal on a cool car - you take it!
ReplyDeleteCar, or guitar, or painting, or baseball card, or antique -- whatever it is that you really fancy - I think everyone has some story about the awesome thing they really wanted, that they saw for an incredible price, that they refrained from buying because they didn't have much money at the time - and then regretted for the rest of their lives. I don't mean that we should all go into debt buying whatever we want all the time, but we should be bolder when the once-in-a-lifetime, really special opportunity appears!
True, very true.
ReplyDeleteI want to get G-Dad's Firebird going again. I think that would be a dreamcar with a little investment...
I'm behind on posts, I can't wait to see if we win and get this car!!!
