I just made myself rice porridge with a poached egg for lunch. And that got me thinking about one memorable meal when I ordered poached eggs...
The morning Nick proposed to me, he took me to breakfast at the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, WA. I didn't know what was up, so I didn't realize that I was ordering the last meal of my unfettered youth, haha. Nick greeted the impending demise of his bachelorhood with vanilla and spice waffles. I ordered smoked salmon hash, with poached eggs. Excellent coffee, beautifully presented food, "honey from heaven" on the biscuits. Perfect service, perfect everything.
It was a meal worthy of the event, even though I didn't know what the event was - and it was crystal clear autumn morning with a pale blue sky; rainbow over the falls as we ate our breakfast; I will never forget the sunlight of that morning, how it sparkled in the river and the leaves and Nick's eyes and the ring in the little grey box...
Happy, happy memories.
Not much to say to that, other than that it sounds yummy and beautiful.
