...but maybe someone else out there in internetland has ideas, too?

I was putting a load of laundry into the dryer when I noticed that the dryer door vent was full of cardboard. Let me explain - if you look at this webpage:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/dryer1.htm
they show how the air goes through the dryer door, through a slot at the bottom of the dryer door and into the lint screen. Well, the hole they label "slot in the bottom of the door" is now, on our dryer, blocked with a big (I can't tell how big, but much bigger than the slot) nasty-looking piece of corrugated cardboard. I tried to pull it out but it seems to be stuck well within the dryer door. I am wondering if it is some kind of insulation that has come unglued... or a piece of packing material that was never removed when the dryer was installed... or what. I don't know whether I should pull out as much as I can, or no; or whether I should just run the dryer, or what. It's nasty nasty, and now I can't dry clothes. Booooooooooo!!!!!!!! Nobody on the internet seems to have ever had this problem.
Do you have any suggestions?
Yikes! you should tell your landlord.
ReplyDeleteIf the venting is blocked, it can be a fire hazard... I remember a dryer fire in my house when I was about 7: blocked vent. (Fire truck and everything...)
while they're there, have them take a look at that stove, too!
;)
I'm a fan of the above plan, too bad you'll probably have to say goodbye to the drier for a month D:
