Holland. Obama. Korea. Chevy. 400 jobs.
Using BLS unemployment data from May, Holland's unemployment is at 15.64 percent; not counting the underemployed, the hopeless, those of us who left because it was hopeless, and recent graduates and others who don't count for unemployment and therefore, don't count.
Just for fun, a little more basic math: Holland's population is around 34,063 - 15.64% of which is 5327.4532 - we'll say 5327 even. Give 400 of those people jobs, and we still have 4927 unemployed residents - 14.46% unemployment, 6.35% higher than Michigan's unemployment (adjusted for those 400 jobs!), which is the second highest in the nation.
All of which leads me to conclude, we probably won't be moving to Michigan anytime soon...
Well, it's been a long time, anyways! I was just trying to remember the name of the ice cream store where Bush43 went when he visited Holland - and I can't remember it. Like forgetting a language that one used to speak well: I can picture the place clearly, but I can't think of the word for it. Anyways, I wonder if Obama will get ice cream while he's in town. Really, he should get a nutty paddle pop, a pepperoni roll, a sampling of whatever fruit is in season, and a walk in through the dunes to the lakeshore. That's the way to enjoy your time in Holland MI!
OH YES: Captain Sundae! Captain Sundae for ice cream. It's not that great but I love it anyways. Funny old Holland Michigan...

Captain Sundae!?!? I should have remembered that!
ReplyDeleteI DID rememner Nutty Paddle Pop, becuase whenever someone hasn't just said it, I always say it wrong and it always includes at least two 'nutty's in the name.
Nutty nutty! The more, the merrier!
